Japanese pop singer-songwriter Hideaki Tokunaga was born on February 27, 1961 and comes from Yanagawa, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. He started his way to the musical Olympus in 1982 when he participated in the popular Japanese TV show Star Tanjo! Some of the Japanese artists rose to fame with help of this program including Akina Nakamori, Pink Lady and others. Tokunaga was not lucky and he was rejected, however this didn’t stop him but inspired to go on with his efforts. He emerged on the Japanese music scene in 1986 with his debut album “Girl”. He didn’t reach the mainstream success at once. It took him one year to top the Oricon charts. The third album Birds, released in 1987, hit the top of the chart.
