American gospel music singer-songwriter Marvin Sapp was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the United States in 1968. He began his music efforts at a very young age when he was 4. At that time, he began singing in a church choir. During his teenage and youth years he sang in many different gospel groups. In 1991 he received an offer from Fred Hammond to join Commissioned. Sapp was with the band till 1996 when he decided to leave the group in favor of his solo music career. He released his debut self-titled album in 1995. The breakthrough to the mainstream success happened in 2007 when he released the album Thirsty. The album was supported by a hit single "Never Would Have Made It" that hit such charts like Billboard Hot 100, Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and of course Billboard Hot Gospel Songs.
