Cranes are a British dream pop and gothic rock band that was formed in 1980 by musicians Alison and Jim Shaw. The band currently consists of Alison Shaw, Jim Shaw, Paul Smith, Ben Baxter (bass guitar) and Jon Callender (drums). Their earlier recordings were full of the industrial and avant-garde music sound. But after some music experiments, they stopped their choice for dream pop and gothic rock sound. Following a general updating of their sound, they toured with The Cure worldwide, in 1992. After this tour the band's popularity increased and they started recording their next album. In this period of time they released their most successful album, Forever.
