Alternative (1294) Rock (8554) Rock: Country (0)
Son Volt is an alternative country group which music style varies from folk/country to barhouse rock. The group was formed in 1994 in Saint Louis, Missouri, USA by Jay Ferrar (ex-Uncle Tupelo). The band consists of Jay Farrar, Dave Bryson, Andrew Duplantis, Chris Masterson and Mark Spencer. During their career the group didn’t get any remarkable commercial success. The albums Trace, Straightaways and Wide Swing Tremolo were acclaimed by the critics but didn’t enter the charts. After these releases the group was on hold and Jay Ferrar tried to make a solo career. However the group began to play again and in 2004 they recorded another album Okemah and the Melody of Riot. It is available for downloading in mp3 from our site. Son Volt’s next albums are The Search (2007) and American Central Dust (2009).
