Spanish and Catalan singer-songwriter Joan Manuel Serrat i Teresa was born on December 27, 1943 in Barcelona, Spain. He has become one of the most important figures in the Spanish music. He began his music career playing in the band that covered the Beatles’ songs and popular Italian songs translated in Spanish. As a solo artist, he debuted on the stage in 1967 and became very popular in the Nova cançó movement in Catalonia. His popularity grew up and the next year he was sent to the Eurovision contest to represent Spain. However, he was replaced by another artist as he wanted to sing in Catalan language and that was forbidden by Franco regime. He had to leave Spain in 1974 and returned only after Franco’s death. One of his most popular songs is "Mediterráneo". You can download the same-titled album by Joan Manuel Serrat in mp3 from our site.
