American indie rock band The Walkmen was formed in 2000 and the originally was based in New York and in Washington D.C. The band was founded by former members of Jonathan Fire*Eater and of The Recoys. The band’s line-up composes of Hamilton Leithauser (vocals, guitar), Paul Maroon (guitar, piano), Walter Martin (organ and bass), Peter Bauer (bass and organ) and Matt Barrick (drums). The band’s sound is considered unique because of their approach to atmospheric sound and instrumentation. The critics saw this on their debut album Everyone Who Pretended to Like Me Is Gone (2002). The follow-up albums Bows & Arrows was considered as one of the best albums on the year (2004). The album was critically acclaimed and spawned two singles “The Rat” and “Little House of Savages”.
