30 Seconds to Mars is an American hard rock and post-hardcore band that was formed in 1998 by Jared Leto's brother Shannon Leto, and currently consists of Jared Leto, Tomo Milicevic and Shannon Leto. At first, the band began as a small family project. The band's debut self-titled album, 30 Seconds to Mars, was released in 2002. The band's breakthrough album, A Beautiful Lie, was released in 2005. It spawned several singles such as "Attack," "The Kill (Bury Me)," "From Yesterday," and "A Beautiful Lie". The album was a commercial success and also was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The album's lead single, "Attack", received a modest worldwide success. The next single, "The Kill", reached the number 3 on Billboard's Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks. The third single, "From Yesterday", reached the number 1 on Billboard's Hot Modern Rock Tracks.
