Monica, birth name Monica Denise Arnold was born on October 24, 1980 in College Park, Georgia. She is an American R&B singer and entertainer who rose to fame in the middle of the 1990s. She began her music career in Charles Thompson and the Majestics gospel choir but decided to pursue a solo music career. She signed a deal with Arista Records and released her debut album Miss Thang in 1995. The album quickly propelled her to the stardom as three of the singles reached number one on the Hot R&B/Hip-hop Songs, i.e. "Don't Take It Personal (Just One of Dem Days)", "Like This and Like That", and "Before You Walk out of My Life". The album was certified 3 x Platinum in the U.S. Her best charting album on the Billboard 200 is her fifth album Still standing.
