LCD Soundsystem is an American musical project formed in New York City in 2002. The founder and the main creative force of the project is producer James Murphy, who is also co-founder of the DFA Records, specializing in dance-punk. The project’s style is dance-punk as well. During the live shows, Murphy uses the help of other musicians - Nancy Whang – keyboards synthesizer, Pat Mahoney – drums, Al Doyle – guitar, percussion, and Phil Skarich – bass. The project has released two studio albums, quite a number of singles and some other records like remix albums and extended play. The debut self-titled album was released in 2005. The album was praised by the critics and received two Grammy nominations in the electronic music section. The band continued their success with the album Sound of Silver that was praised by The Guardian, Punknews.org, Pitchfork Media and others.
