Patti LaBelle (birth name Patricia Louise Holte) is an American R&B and soul singer-songwriter and actress. She was born on May 24, 1944, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is also known as a former member of soul band Labelle. In the late 1970s, she signed to Epic Records and released her debut self-titled album, which produced her first solo hits, "It's a Joy to Have Your Love" and "You Are My Friend". In 1986, she released her high-charting and best-selling album, Winner in You, which yielded the singles such as "Oh, People" and "On My Own" (featuring Michael McDonald). It also has been certified platinum in the US and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart.
