Biography

Jean Reinhardt, better known as Django Reinhardt was born on 23 January 1910Liberchies, Belgium and died on 16 May 1953 in Fontainebleau, France. He was one of the most popular European jazz guitarists and he is one of the most renowned ones. He has influenced many famous guitarists including Joe Bonomassa, Chet Atkins, Carlos Santana, B.B. King, Tommy Emmanuel and many others. His popularity is so immense that some musicians called their sons “Django” including David Crosby. Django was heavily injured during the fire in his home and according to the doctors, he had no chances to continue playing guitar. However, after the rehabilitation he played guitar again, he played solos with two fingers only. He survived during the WWII as he was under protection of Nazi officer who was his fan.
