American indie rock band Sleater-Kinney was founded in Olympia, Washington, the United States in 1994. The founding members are Corin Tucker and Carrie Brownstein. Originally, the band was formed as a side-project of two other bands Heavens to Betsy and Excuse 17. When these band split, the twosome focused on that project which became their main focus. The band released seven studio albums and several singles. They reached the mainstream audience in 2002 releasing their album One Beat. The album was noticed and that allowed them to open for Pearl Jam. The album reached number 2 on the Top Heatseekers chart and number 5 on the Top Independent Albums.
