Biography

American jazz, R&B, folk and soul singer, songwriter and musician Roberta Flack was born on February 10, 1937 in Black Mountain, North Carolina, the United States. She rose to fame with the release of her debut album “First Take”. The real recognition came to her when she won Grammy Awards for two of her songs - "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" (1973) and "Killing Me Softly with His Song" (1974). Both Grammys were in nomination “Record of the year”. Only U2 and Flack are the artists who won this award in consecutive years. During her career, she has released some more top 5 singles - "Where Is the Love" (with Donny Hathaway), "Feel Like Makin' Love", "The Closer I Get to You" (with Donny Hathaway) and "Tonight, I Celebrate My Love" (with Peabo Bryson).
