American blues rock and adult alternative singer-songwriter Rachael Yamagata was born on September 23, 1977 in Arlington, Virginia, the United States. She is Japanese on her father’s side and Italian-German on her mother’s side. She started her music career in Chicago-based band Bumpus. She was about 6 years with the band, touring and recording. At the same time, she wrote quite a number of songs, but the band refused to incorporate them in their repertoire, as they didn’t fit funk-fusion direction of the band. Therefore, she decided to embark on solo career. Her debut album Happenstance came out in 2004. The following album Elephants...Teeth Sinking Into Heart was released in 2008. Many of her songs features TV films and shows, including One Tree Hill, The L World, Brothers & Sisters, Private Practice, 30 Rock and others.
