American hip hop group Public Enemy, often abbreviated as PE was formed in Long Island, New York, the United States in 1982. The band members are Chuck D (Carlton Douglas Ridenhour), Flavor Flav (William Jonathan Drayton, Jr.), Professor Griff (Richard Griffin) and DJ Lord (Lord Aswod). The band is famous for their radical politically charged lyrics and for their active interest about the problems of black society. The band rose to fame after the release of their scandal album It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back. The Rolling Stone magazine put this album on the 48th position in its list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Times.
