Norwegian indie pop and indie folk duo Kings of Convenience were formed in Bergen, Norway in 1999. The duo members are Erlend Øye and Eirik Glambek Bøe. They know each other since childhood and were playing together before forming a duo. Their first band was Skog where they played with two other friends. However, the band broke up and Erlend and Eirik decided to continue their career and formed a duo. Special features of their music are calming voices and refined melodies. They have released three studio albums so far. The national breakthrough happened in 2001 with a release of their debut album quiet is the New Loud. The album reached the top spot of the Norwegian chart and made duo popular. Their most successful album is Riot on an Empty Street released in 2004.
