American thrash metal band Gwar, often written as GWAR was formed in Richmond, Virginia, the United States, in 1985. The current band’s lineup consists of Oderus Urungus (lead vocals), Beefcake the Mighty (bass guitar, backing vocals), Flattus Maximus (lead guitar, backing vocals), Balsac the Jaws of Death (rhythm guitar backing vocals), Jizmak Da Gusha (drums, percussion), and of Sleazy P. Martini (manager, vocals). The band’s music style transformed from punk rock short simple songs into hardcore-influenced crossover thrash. One of the band’s trademarks is their costumes inspired by sci-fi and horror films. The band was nominated for two Grammys – for best Metal Performance and for Best Long Form Music Video, but they couldn’t win.
