Good Charlotte is an American pop rock and pop punk band that was formed in 1996 and currently consists of Joel Madden (lead vocals), Benji Madden (lead guitar, backing vocals), Billy Martin (keyboards, rhythm guitar), Paul Thomas (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Dean Butterworth (drums). In the early 1995, they caught the attention of punk rock band, Lit. Soon after, the band played some dates with the band Blink-182. All of this caught the attention of major music labels, and they eventually signed with Epic Records in 1999. In 2002, they released their most commercially-successful album, The Young and the Hopeless, which went on to receive triple platinum certification from the RIAA. The album's breakthrough single, "Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous", topped both pop and rock charts around the globe.
