Scottish rock band Franz Ferdinand from Glasgow, Scotland, the UK was formed in 2002. The band’s line-up hasn’t been changed since its formation and it composes of Alex Kapranos (lead vocals, guitar), Nicholas McCarthy (rhythm guitar, keyboards and backing vocals), Robert Hardy (bass guitar) and of Paul Thomson (drums, percussion and backing vocals). The band was named after Austrian archduke Franz Ferdinan who was killed in 1914 and that was the cause of the WWI. The band has released three studio albums Franz Ferdinand (2004), You Could Have it So Much Better (2005) and Tonight L Franz Ferdinand (2009). The band has achieved mainstream success right after their debut album which spawned a hit single “Take Me Out” which was the first step to their immense popularity. The debut album went 4 x Platinum in the UK and Platinum in the US.
