One of the most influential composers of the 20th century Igor Stravinsky was born on June 17, Oranienbaum, Russian Empire and died on April 6, 1971 in New York City, New York, the United States. He was interested in music since his childhood. Despite attending University of Saint-Petersburg and studying law he studied music himself and took private lessons from famous composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. Rimsky-Korsakov helped him to write his first composition. After a short time, Sergei Diaghilev, the head of the Ballets Russes, offered him to create a ballet specially for Parisian audience. Stravinsky collaborated with Diaghilev and that collaboration earned them the world fame, ballets Firebird, Petrushka and The Rite of Spring were very popular.
