Usher (birth name Usher Raymond IV) is an American R&B singer-songwriter and actor. He was born on October 14, 1978 in Dallas, Texas, but spent the majority of his young life in Chattanooga. At age 11, he joined an R&B local quintet called the NuBeginnings, which was organized by local music svengali, Darryl Wheeler. At age 13, Usher competed on Star Search, where he was spotted by an A&R representative from LaFace Records. And in 1994, LaFace released Usher's self-titled debut album. Usher achieved mainstream success with his breakthrough album, Confessions, which you may download in mp3 from our site. The album spawned four number-one singles, "Yeah!", "Burn", "Confessions Part II" and "My Boo" (duet with Alicia Keys). Confessions topped the list of the most-shipped albums of 2004 in the United States. To date, the album has sold over ten million copies and has received a diamond certification from the Recording Industry Association of America. It has also gone platinum and gold in over twenty different countries, and has sold over 16 million copies worldwide.
