English rock band The Stranglers comes from Guildford, Surrey, England. The band was founded in 1974 by bass player/vocalist Jean Jacques Burnel, guitarist/vocalist Hugh Cornwell and keyboardist/guitarist Hans Wärmling. Warmling was replaced by Dave Greenfield very soon. The band was founded under the name The Guildford Stranglers, but was renamed afterwards. The early influences of the band were The Doors and The Music Machine. The band quickly gained the popularity opening for such acts like The Ramones and Patti Smith. However, their popularity was not so big. Their achievements are 12 top 20 British singles and one singles reaching number 2. That was “Golden Brown” from the album Le Folie (1981).
