British punk band The Clash was active from 1976 to 1986. The band was from London, England. The main members were Joe Strummer (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Mick Jones (lead guitar, vocals), Paul Simonon (bass, backing vocals, occasional lead vocals) and Nicky "Topper" Headon (drums, percussion). The band was one of the main early punk bands. They had a major success in the UK since the release of their debut album and reached the popularity in the U.S. with their album London Calling.
