English rock band Slade was formed in Black Country area in West Midlands, England, UK in 1966. The band’s lineup was changing over the years so the current one composes of Dave Hill – guitars, vocals, Don Powell - drums, John Berry – bass guitar, vocals, violin, and of Mal McNulty – vocals, guitars with Dave Hill and Don Powell being the original members. The peak of the band’s popularity was in 1970s when they became one of the leaders on glam rock scene. In the period from 1971 till 1976 they released 17 top 20 singles in the UK and became the first ones who could somewhat approach the Beatles’ achievement of 22 consecutive hit-singles. The band is known for writing one of the most iconic Christmas pop songs in Great Britain “Merry Xmas Everybody”.
