Rock (8554) Rock: Indie (1726)
Pavement was an American indie rock band that was formed in 1989 as a studio project of guitarists and vocalists Stephen Malkmus and Scott Kannberg, known originally only as "S.M." and "Spiral Stairs", respectively. The band remained signed to an independent label throughout their entire career. They quickly gained popularity with their breakthrough first album, Slanted and Enchanted (1992), which yielded the singles, "Summer Babe (Winter Version)", "Trigger Cut/Wounded-Kite At :17", "No Life Singed Her" and "In the Mouth a Desert". And now, you may download Pavement's debut album, Slanted and Enchanted, in mp3 from our site. The album's lead single, "Summer Babe", was also ranked by Rolling Stone magazine as #286 in their list of the 500 greatest songs of all time. The band's final concert together was at Brixton Academy in London on November 20, 1999. During the concert, Malkmus had a pair of handcuffs attached to his microphone stand, and at one point told that audience, "These symbolize what it's like being in a band all these years".
