Kanye West (birth name Kanye Omari West) is an American hip hop and R&B singer-songwriter and record producer. He was born on June 8, 1977, in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S. While attending school, he produced for local artists. He later achieved success by producing hit singles for major hip hop/R&B artists, including Jay-Z, Scarface, The Game, Alicia Keys, Janet Jackson among others.
