She was born on April 4, 1972, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S. She is well known as co-writer of the Grammy Award winner song, "You Got Me", which was performed by Erykah Badu and The Roots. She quickly gained popularity in 2000 with her first album, Who Is Jill Scott?
