German composer Richard Georg Strauss was born on 11 June 1864 in Munich, Germany, died on 8 September 1949 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. He’s one of the best classic composer and a prominent conductor. He devoted all his life to music though at first he studied art history and philosophy in Munich University. There are lots of rumors about his relations with Nazi regime. He had friends among high-ranking Nazis and wrote the hymn for the Olympic games in 1935 which were held in Germany. At the same time Stefan Zweig, a Jewish-German writer was his friend and Strauss refused to remove his name from a playbill for Die schweigsame Frau. After that he had to leave his post of the President of the State Music Bureau. The most famous Richard Strauss’ works are Salome, Elektra and Also sprach Zarathustra which you can download in mp3 from our site.
