Irish hard rock band Thin Lizzy was formed in Dublin, Ireland in 1969. The band was formed by singer, songwriter and bassist Phil Lynott. He was the band’s leader until his death. The current band’s line-up consists of Scott Gorham, Tommy Aldridge and Francesco DiCosmo. The band rose to the international fame with their hit single “The Boys Are Back in Town” which was released in 1976. The band’s other massive hit is their cover version of traditional song “Whiskey in the Jar”. VH1 included the band in their list of 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock and placed them at 51st position. Phil Laynott died from the cardiac arrest caused by drug overdose.
