Kid Rock (birth name Robert James Ritchie) is an American hip-hop and rock singer-songwriter and actor. He was born on January 17, 1971, in Romeo, Michigan, U.S. At age eleven he joined a breakdance crew, called the Furious Funkers. In high school, he DJed at parties for beer. In addition to DJing, he started rapping and joined a local hip hop group The Beast Crew. In 1990, he relased his first album, Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast. Rock achieved mainstream success with his breakthrough album, Devil Without a Cause (1998), which spawned five singles, "I Am the Bullgod", "Bawitdaba", "Cowboy", "Only God Knows Why" and "Wasting Time". In 2007, the National Association of Recording Merchandisers (NARM) and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame named Devil Without a Cause the 68th best album of all time.
