Dark Angel was an American thrash metal band that was fromed in 1981 and consisted of Ron Rinehart (vocals), Eric Meyer (guitars), Danyael Williams (bass) and Gene Hoglan (drums). The band's over-the-top style (extremely fast, heavy and lengthy songs with lots of tempo changes, lyrics and extended instrumental parts) earned them the nickname "the L.A. Caffeine Machine" and the motto "too fast, my ass". In 1985, they released their debut album, We Have Arrived, which spawned the singles, "Merciless Death", "Falling from the Sky", "Welcome to the Slaughterhouse" and "No Tomorrow". In 1986, they released their second studio album, Darkness Descends, which is widely considered to be their seminal release. Around the same, several other thrash metal bands such as Metallica also released seminal albums and started to gain more popularity.
