Famous Austrian dance composer Johann Strauss I (March 14, 1804 – September 25, 1849) is known first of all for his masterpiece Radetzky march and for his Waltzes (he wrote 152 waltzes) which are often called Viennese Waltzes which you can download in mp3 from our site. Strauss was born in Vienna and dedicated all his life to music. In order to gain popularity he adopted famous works for his owns and in such way he built in Marseillaise, Oberon Overture into his own compositions. His popularity grew up and later he began touring around Europe, in British Isles, in Belgium, Netherlands, Germany. Soon he became one of the most popular dance composers and in 1846 he was awarded by the Emperor Ferdinand I by the title Director of Music for the Imperial and Royal Court Balls. Johann Strauss I is the founder of a great musical dynasty All of his sons – Johann, Joseph and Eduard became composers too.
