Gloria Estefan, birth name Gloria María Fajardo García was born on September 1, 1957 in Havana, Cuba. She is a Cuban-American Latin singer-songwriter. During her career she has sold more than 90 million of her albums and has received five Grammy Awards. She is known as the vocalist of the Latin music band Miami Sound Machine and as solo performer. Her first charting single was Dr. Beat from the album A Toda Maquina. The first single number one was released in 1985. The song Conga featured the album primitive Love and reached the top spot of the Hot Dance Club Play and of Hot Dance Single Sales charts. Besides producing dance hits, Estefan could breakthrough to the mainstream success and three of her singles could reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100.
