American R&B and soul singer-songwriter Anita Baker was born on January 26, 1958 in Toledo, Ohio, the United States. She began her career, in Detroit, Michigan. The debut album The Songstress didn’t earn her success but helped to launch a career. After that, she signed a contract with Elektra Records and went on to release her follow-up. The album Rapture came out in 1986 and quickly became a hit making Baker a star. The album was sold by 8 million copies worldwide and earned her two Grammy Awards. The album was supported by a hit single “Sweet Love”. Baker continued releasing platinum albums and only her last album My Everything was certified Gold.
