Australian indie band Dead Can Dance was formed in Melbourne, Australia in 1981. The two core members of the band are Brendan Perry and Lisa Gerrard. The band split in 1998 and they reunited for a world tour in 2005. Shortly after their formation, they moved to London where they attracted 4AD Records. The band was signed and embarked on a tour with Cocteau Twins. The band released their debut self-titled album in 1984. Since then, they released seven more albums, one extended play and four compilations. The band’s music is very difficult to classify as they changed the genre through their career. At the beginning, their music had elements of darkwave and gothic, while later works are more of ancient and ethnic music. In general, their works may be classified as part of indie culture.
