Eric Johnson is an American rock and instrumental rock guitarist and recording artist. He was born on August 17, 1954, in Austin, Texas. He appeared on the instrumental rock scene as a member of Electromagnets band, in 1974. The group did not achieve any success and disbanded in 1977. Nevertheless, Johnson's talent attracted the attenton of other local band and he quickly joined the Eric Johnson Group. In 1978, they released their debut album, Seven Worlds. But later, he left the band and decided the start his solo career. In 1989, he singed to Capitol Records. And in 1990, he released his most successful album, Ah Via Musicom, which produced five hits such as "Cliffs of Dover" (reached number 5 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks Chart), "Desert Rose", "High Landrons", "Trademark" (reached number 7 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks Chart) and "Righteous" (reached number 8 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks Chart).
