American heavy metal band Iced Earth comes from Tampa, Florida, the United States. The band was founded by rhythm guitarist and songwriter Jon Schaffer in 1984. The band’s line-up changed quite often and now the band composes of Jon Schaffer – rhythm guitar, vocals, Matt Barlow – lead vocals, Troy Seele – lead guitars, backing vocals, Brent Smedley – drums and Freddie Vidales – bass, backing vocals. The original band’s name is Purgatory, but it was changed as it had been already taken by another band. Iced Earth have released 10 studio albums and only three singles. The band’s albums didn’t chart at first but the breakthrough happened with their concept-based album “Glorious Burden”. The album tells about main battles focusing on the American Civil War.
