James Oppenheim, better known under his stage name Boney James was born on September 1, 1961 in Lowell, Massachusetts, the United States. He is an American saxophonist, songwriter and producer. Boney James has been interested in music since his childhood and began playing clarinet when he was 8 years old. Later, he gave it up and changed the instrument for saxophone. Thus, his career has begun. The serious professional music career started at the beginning of the 1990s. He joined Bobby Caldwell's band at that time. This gave him the possibility to embark on solo career. The debut solo album Trust was released in 1992. During his career, he has released quite a number of albums and has become a very successful musician. In 2009, Billboard ranked him #1 "Hot Smooth Jazz Artist".
