Michael Brecker, birth name Michael Leonard Brecker was an American jazz saxophonist, one of the most influential modern musicians and the greatest saxophonist of the last quarter of the 20th century. Brecker was born on March 29, 1949 in Cheltenham, Pennsylvania, the United States and died on January 13, 2007 in New York, New York. He has been awarded 15 Grammys including such nominations like Best Jazz Instrumental Solo and Best Jazz Instrumental Album, Individual or Group. Before releasing solo albums, he was working with his brother Randy in their band Brecker Brothers and later he joined a project named Steps which was later renamed in Steps Ahead. He also collaborated with various artists, like Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen, Frank Zappa, Frank Sinatra and many others.
