Lipps Inc. was an American dance and disco music band from Minneapolis that was founded in 1978 by singer, songwriter and musician Steven Greenberg and it included guitarist David Rivkin. They achieved mainstream success in 1979 with their international hit, "Funkytown", which peaked at number 1 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Hot Dance Music/Club Play charts. It also has been certified platinum in the US. Later, "Funkytown" became number 1 in several countries of Europe and number 2 in the UK and Sweden. In the early 1980s, they released their first album, Mouth to Mouth, which was a huge success. A year later, they released the following album, Designer Music, which yielded several singles such as "Designer Music", "Hold Me Down" and "The One".
