Swedish symphonic metal band Therion was formed in Upplands Väsby, Sweden in 1987. The band was founded by Christofer Johnsson and the current line-up composes of Christofer Johnsson - guitar, keyboards, formerly vocals, Nalle "Grizzly" Påhlsson – bass guitar, Johan Koleberg – drums and Thomas Vikström – vocals, lyrics. The band has become one of the first heavy metal acts to achieve popularity with full live orchestra. Therion’s lyrics are based on different mythologies and feature occultism, magic and ancient traditions. The band’s name means “beast” in Greek. The group is considered one of the key symphonic metal bands in the world. They have released quite a number of albums, four live albums, three DVDs and three singles.
