One of the most popular world opera composers was Gioachino Antonio Rossini. He was born on February 29, 1792 in Pesaro, Italia and died on November 13, 1886 in Passy, France. His father was a horn player and his mother was a singer, so the boy was introduced to music during his childhood. His father was arrested by Austrian regime as he welcomed Napoleon’s Army in Italy. His mother took Gioachino in Bologna where she earned for living being a leading singer in different theaters. The boy studied music under the guidance of Padre Stanislao Mattei. Rossini’s debut opera was The Marriage Contract. It wasn’t successful but that was the first step to the world fame. In 1813 already earned the world popularity for his operas Tancredi and L’Italiana in Algeri. He was an idol for Italian opera public. His most famous opera is The Barber of Seville.
