Overkill is an American trash metal and groove metal group that was founded in 1980 by two members Rat Skates and D.D. Verni, and the band's current line-up consists of Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth (Lead vocals), Dave Linsk (Lead guitar, Backing vocals), Derek Tailer (Rhythm guitar, Backing vocals), D.D. Verni (Bass, Backing vocals) and Ron Lipnicki (Drums). They released their debut album, Feel the Fire, in 1985. It did not achieved any commercial success, but received critical acclaim. Their following album, Taking Over, was released in 1987 and it reached number 191 in the US. In the late 1980s, they signed to Atlantic record label. At the same time, they released their third album, Under the Influence, which yielded the band's first biggest hit "Hello From The Gutter".
