Swedish melodic death metal band Amon Amarth was founded in Tumba, Sweden in 1988. Originally, the band was known as Scum and played grindcore. Their sound changed when new vocalist Johan Hegg joined the band. Since that time, they have been known as a melodic death metal band. The band’s name was also changed quite soon. Amon Amarth means “Doom Mountain” in a conlang Sindarin, Elvish language created by writer J.R.R. Tolkien. The band can be considered a Viking one. Their lyrics are based on Norse mythology and pre-Christian times thus making them very close to Viking metal bands. The band is singed to Metal Blade Records and released their last album Twilight of the Thunder God in 2008. The album features guest appearances of Apocalyptica, Roope Latvala of Children of Bodom and Lars Göran Petrov of Entombed. You can download Amon Amarth’s last album in mp3 from our site.
