Biography

German synthpop group Alphaville is from Münster, Germany in 1982. The group was founded by Marian Gold and Bernhard Lloyd who were joined by Frank Mertens a bit later. This line-up released the band’s most popular and successful album Forever Young (1984). It broke up the charts and yielded two singles that made the group popular all around the world. The biggest band’s hit was “Big in Japan”. It charted in most European countries and reached number one on the Hot Dance Club Play in the USA. The other single was “Forever Young” hitting the top of the charts in Sweden and entering the top 5 in some other European countries but failing to chart in UK and US. There was third hit single “Sounds Like a Melody” and it was most successful in Sweden again and in Italy. You can download the debut album Forever Young by Alphaville in mp3 from our site.
