Biography

A Hawk and a Hacksaw (simply known as AHAAH) is an American folk, Balkan, klezmer and mariachi music supergroup that was founded in 2000 by two musicians - percussionist Jeremy Barnes and violinist Heather Trost. They rose to fame in 2002 with their self-titled first album, which was heavily influenced by the eastern European and particularly Balkan tradition music sounds and it received very good reviews from critics. A Hawk and a Hacksaw also contained the singles such as "Maremaillette", "A Hack and a Handsaw", "Romceasca", "A Hard Row to Hoe" and "All Along the Tide". In 2005, they released their following album, Darkness at Noon, which became their most successful and popular record. It produced the band's well-known singles including "Our Lady of the Vlatva", "Wicky Pocky", "Portland Town, "Laughter in the Dark" and "The Moon Under Water".
