English experimental and art rock band 801 was founded in 1976 but disbanded in 1977. The bands members were Phil Manzanera, Brian Eno, Bill MacCormick, Francis Monkman, Simon Phillips and Lloyd Watson. The band was formed after the broke up of Roxy music band (Phil Monzanera and Brian Eno were the ex-members of that band). Such a strange name for a band was taken from Eno’s song which featured his solos album of 1974. The song had such words: We are the 801, we are the central shaft. The band performed three live concerts which got a high acclaim from the critics. These concerts were held in Norfolk, at the Reading festival, and the last one was at London’s Queen Elizabeth hall. This last concert was recorded and was released as 801 Live LP. You can download this 801’s album in mp3 from our site.
